Our custom shower build process
We handle every step—demolition, backer board installation, waterproofing, mud bed or Schluter shower pan, tile layout design, setting, grouting, and sealing. Our installers also coordinate with your plumber for drain placement and niche lighting rough-in to ensure everything aligns perfectly.
Demo & prep
Old shower demolition, substrate repair, and proper backer board installation creates a solid, flat base for waterproofing and tile.
Waterproofing
Waterproofing membranes are applied to all wall and floor surfaces, with extra attention to corners, drains, and penetrations—the most failure-prone areas.
Tile layout & setting
We dry-lay tiles to plan the pattern and minimize awkward cuts, then set them with appropriate mortar for the tile type and application.
Grouting & sealing
Premium unsanded or sanded grout is applied and sealed with penetrating sealer to protect against staining, mold, and moisture intrusion.
Caulking & trim
Flexible caulk at all plane changes (floor-to-wall, wall corners) prevents cracking from normal movement, and trim profiles finish thresholds and edges cleanly.
Final inspection
We walk through the completed shower with you before we leave, addressing any concerns and confirming you're completely satisfied with the result.
